Chemistry gone Wrong

The last 3 homeschool chemistry experiments that Danielle and friends have attempted to do have gone bad. Won't tell you why this wick wouldn't burn but lots have gone wrong based on specific ingredients that either we didn't have or the South Asian version of it was different and thus flawed the experiments.
